So, strategic risk – what exactly does this mean and how does it apply to academy trusts? Strategic risks can be defined as ‘the uncertainties and untapped opportunities embedded in your strategic intent and how well they are executed’. Strategic risk management is the process performed by management for ‘identifying, assessing and managing risks and uncertainties, affected by a range of factors, scenarios and risks that could impede the organisation’s ability to achieve its strategic objectives’.
